H&M are the latest fashion chain to offer a promotional music extravaganza. British model Georgia May Jagger, fronts the rock n roll collection which hits stores next month. There was no better person to choose, Georgia May is the love child of music and fashion thanks to her model mother (Jerry Hall) and Rolling Stone musician father (Mick Jagger). Georgia May echoes our opinions about music and fashion, we often say how music reflects style and enjoy guessing what tracks people listen to from their fashion sense.
‘I think music influences fashion and has done so for generations.
Music creates a certain mood and then people dress accordingly. I think it’s all quite closely intertwined.’
Art direction on the shoot is very iconic. We are sure the creative team considered the likes of Edie Sedgwick and Brigitte Bardot (who Georgia could be mistaken for). H&M are choosing musical muses for their campaigns. Lana Del Rey most recently performed “Blue Velvet” in a music video made for H&M (see our post here). Yesterday Beyonce Knowles accidentally released news that she too would be modelling for the brand.
Georgia poses in a Parisian mansion for photographer Terry Richardson, a name drop that should be familiar to those in the industry. The cream architecture manages to capture the innocence of rock and roll. We are left wondering if H&M are to choose an evening collection to reveal the dark side of the 60’s party scene. The baggy jumper accessorised with the guitar is our favourite of Georgia’s sixties photographs. The clothing is accessorised with conventional musical instruments, the classic piano, guitar and drum frames complete the campaign.
