It seems to be a common occurrence that unheard work from the dead surfaces and gets a new lease of life amongst music listeners. This time Prince returns from heaven with a little music and fashion gift, ‘Prince’s Versace Experience.’
We’ve always found it fascinating that legacies live on through various mediums, whether that be in the form of a hologram, old studio recordings or unseen footage. Sounds and visual imitations often bring back those we miss through trickery of the senses.
Back in 1995, Prince handed out cassettes to spectators at Versace show at Paris fashion week. We would love to get our hands on a retro cassette tape, supposedly only a limited amount were circulated.
Extremely avant-garde and eclectic in his creative approach, Prince was very tactical in his marketing efforts to promote his album, ‘The Gold Experience.’ These songs acted as a promotional asset for the album release and what perfect opportunity to capture the tastemakers of the fashion world at the time.
So we all applaud the Prince estate for final releasing the collection of tracks. Listen below…
