The glitz, the glamour…the Gucci. Creative director, Alessandro Michele supposedly came up with the SS19 concept having seen a theatrical performance in Paris.
We recently went to see the show 42nd street in London and what’s not to love. It’s well presented, highly choreographed, magnificently costumed (even better now it’s Gucci) and set design is enough for anyone to want to go and stage and join the party.
The Golden age of Hollywood is present in this campaign from Gucci for SS19. It recreates the most memorable shows from the time, including: An American in Paris, Singin’ in the Rain, and, of not forgetting, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.
The brilliant thing about musicals is that anything goes, no theatre-goer is going to question the insanity of theatrical choreography, because people are there to be entertained. We are wowed by musicals and especially those that are pure Hollywood. So it makes sense that Gucci with their fabulous designs and brilliant taste, could go as far as putting on a musical to film a campaign!
Expect to see stunning embellished dresses, diamanté necklaces, 1940’s tailoring and a lot of silly fun. Synchronised tap dancing, and rotating models dancing to the soundtrack, Irving Berlin’s “There’s No Business Like Show Business”.
Cleverly teased out with Hollywood red carpet style interviews on You Tube with members of the cast. The show is about to start and it’s none other than #GucciShowtime
