Make sure you travel through a kaleidoscope of colour this weekend!
The Italian fashion house responsible for psychedelic zigzag print have been showcasing their retrospective exhibition since May.
This month will be your final chance to visit ‘Misoni, Art, Colour – previously organised by the MA*GA Art Museum. City mapper your way to the Fashion and Textile Museum in Bermondsey.
The Missoni empire began in Gallarate, northern Italy, in the Province of Varese where Ottavio and Rosita Missoni were married. They were the perfect fashion match with Ottavio’s eye for colour and pattern blended in well with Rosita’s knowledge of textiles.
The exhibition highlights the importance of art as an inspiration and influence on the design work of the fashion duo. It was curated and overseen by their son Luca Missoni. It really is an exploration of artists who inspired their creative process in the 50’s and 60’s.
Definitely go and visit and take yourself on a cultural and colourful journey. It’s incredible to think how avant-garde and inventive the family were especially with their knitwear ensembles. It’s an opportunity to follow their design process and witness how the two arrived at their innovative decisions through drawings, sketches paintings and patchworks.
Missoni Art Colour is on from 6 May to 4 September 2016. 83 Bermondsey Street, SE1 3XF
