Lights, camera, action (in the backyard)! By Georgia Young
Backyard Cinema, already famous for its huge screenings in Camden Lock Place and its upbeat, outdoor cinema experience which incorporates good food, lots of drinking, famous cult films and often dancing are providing something new at this year’s Film Festival presented by Camden Market.
The Cuban Screen, hidden deeper into the market, becomes a place of discovery where cinema goers can enjoy a smaller more intimate experience. With only 50 seats a night this exclusive area becomes a “secret little haven of film lover’s joy”. A wide range of handpicked independent films, documentaries, unusual cults and ‘ones that got away’, make up the program. It has been inspired into creation by outdoor cinema lovers who have seen Back to the Future & the Goonies one to many times under the stars.
Sat on the cobble stones in the closed and quiet area of the market, surrounded by festoon lighting and under the stars film lovers will come together to enjoy brilliant and ‘unknown’ favourites including the likes of mockumentary What we do in the Shadows, heart stopping and beautiful horror It Follows, British Indie Submarine and Oscar nominated Wild.
You must go for a chilled summer’s evening with a friend -burgers and banter guaranteed!!!
