Forget the catwalks, most brands and magazines are sending style scouts to Coachella this year to predict their trends for next season.
The flurry of celebrities and socialites that attend the festival are the go to source for style inspiration. As the festival isn’t weather dependant like most UK events – the guest list in Cali are exposed to sun instead of mud, meaning even the most unlikely attendees can force themselves to visit. So whilst the fashion crowd bravely embark on Glastonbury turf, in California you can be safe and exit sweaty but presentable.
The dress code at Coachella can vary from your typical denim shorts and fringing attire to high end designers – take a look at Kate Bosworth in a white Coach ensemble. Coachella is not one for the ‘Burning Man’ festival goer – people here do appreciate the music but most are using it as an opportunity for ‘brand me’ and ‘yes please pap pics of my outfit.’ It’s true, we all take into account the music too, but the majority at the Coachella pool parties put fashion first – which is no bad thing. However, if you are a music hippie at heart, then stick to the smaller intimate festival scenes this year like Wilderness, Kendal Calling.
