We’ve been fans of indie pop songstress Morgan Kibby for quite some time – whether it was her otherworldly, mood-bending vocals and keyboards as part of the group M83, or now in her own solo project, White Sea. It’s easy to see why her career has been on the rise. Not only is Morgan musically-inclined but she’s got style to boot. Goldyn recently caught up with the producer/write/composer/singer about her sartorial leanings and her favorite new arrivals at the store.
Morgan describes her own style as rock-and-roll with a minimalist bend: “My style has always comprised varying degrees of melodrama, rocker chic and tailoring. I love simple pieces paired with loud details or romantic accessories. I splurge on custom hats, fancy shoes and bags and rotate lots of black, white and pastel basics. Simple is always timeless, and I never live home without red or plum lipstick!”
Showing that all it takes are a few statement pieces layered with some simple-yet-edgy staples, when picking out her favorites from Goldyn’s Fall collections Morgan gravitated towards Ryan Roche’s Furry Cashmere Sweater and Carmen Diaz’s Gold Cuff, paired with Helmut Lang’s Leather Leggings (a rocker must-have), Michi’s chic Empress Bra Top along with classic black ankle booties from Rachel Comey and our fave bag of the season from Building Block.
