With an action-packed Summer of festival appearances looming, Nick Mulvey can look back at the first half of 2014 with a healthy degree of satisfaction. Our track of the day takes us back to when we first heard Nick, it’s great to see an artist re-living their initial material.
It commenced with the young artist perched invitingly on the BBC Sound of 2014 Poll shortlist, and finds him not six months further down the line with a top 10 album, and an ever-expanding list of sold-out UK and European tours.
He returns to the song that introduced him as a solo artist to a wider audience with ‘Fever To The Form’. Originally released through Communion Records in early 2013, and recently performed to a pin-drop quiet and appreciative audience on Later… with Jools Holland, it is a beautifully entrancing song that swoops, soars and nestles invitingly in the mind long after its four minutes are up.
Nick Mulvey may have experienced due acclaim as a founding member of Portico Quartet, but as an engaging, multi-talented solo-performer, his success story has barely even begun.
