YOUNG KATO LIVE AT LEEDS REVIEW

Live At Leeds 2014- Young Kato, Faversham – by Georgia Leggott

Well known for their performance on Made In Chelsea in April 2013 and supporting the likes of Peace, Swim Deep and Bastille- Young Kato are a British six-piece indie pop band from Cheltenham, England. Formed in 2011, the band consists of Tommy Wright, Jack Edwards, Joe Green, Joe Lever, Harry Steele and Sam Henderson. They are currently managed by Nick Mander
Sadly, if you’re not the type for negativity and honest opinion I’d remove yourselves from the screen in front of you now.

What a fantastic venue and in all a brilliant turn out, this band must really be impressive to pull a crowd into a venue such a distance away from the other acts, right? Wrong. Nothing more came of this band but a few repetitive meaningless lyrics which were sang with poor vocals and to nothing more than a few fan girls acting as though they’d never attended a gig before.

Don’t be fooled by their boyish looks and seemingly innocent charm, they’re just another over rated band that wants that perfect indie look, with over grown curly quiffs or mops of unnecessary hair. Their fashion nothing more than a few pairs of skinny jeans and the average denim jacket. I suppose pulling off the double denim is the only thing Young Kato are good at.

Disaster struck for these Cheltenham lads the moment they attempted to create an indie festival atmosphere. When put up against the likes of Bombay they had no chance of pulling it off, it was as if though they’d never had any individuality .

If you want a good time, lively music and great riffs this band is far from what you want to be seeing. The only thing that can be said is with hope these lasts with discover some musical ability and stop lodging on the end of the gate way into the music industry.
