Over the past decade London’s music and clubbing scene has dramatically evolved, as various new club nights are igniting on a weekly basis across the capital, numerous established clubs are closing their doors for the last time. ‘London…on a regular’ takes a retrospective look at London’s clubbing culture over the past decade, speaking with some of the UKs musical pioneers as they discuss their experiences.
Directed by Rollo Jackson (Angel Haze, Danny Brown, Hot Chip, Supreme) and featuring interviews with the likes of Erol Alkan, Benji B, Seb Chew, Joe Goddard, Lil Silva, Mark Ronson, Richard Russell and Thristian, the film gives a concise overview of how London’s clubbing scene has progressed over the years. Infamous nights such as Trash, Talking Loud, Soul2Soul and Movement are all touched upon, all of which provided the building blocks for nights such as FWD and Deviation which are still going strong.
Amongst various new nights and clubs opening throughout London, Basement at The London EDITION stands out as a beacon of clubbing as it used to be. Seb Chew (known for starting Yoyo at Notting Hill Arts Club) is the vision behind Basement, providing consistently stellar line ups week in, week out, as it rapidly becomes the go-to central London club. Echoing some of London’s cornerstones of clubbing, Basement is geared towards music lovers who appreciate a solid line up and an incredible sound system to match.
