The Beauty of ART
The revolutionary new speaker line of Adam monitors are taking the music world by storm using Accelerating Ribbon Technology, or ART. The original concept by music enthusiast Doctor Oskar Neil has been reinvented by Adam scientists, who focused on optimizing the geometry and upgrading the materials used to get the very best performance. The enhanced sound comes from an amazing ribbon idea that will revolutionize the way everyone approaches speaker design. The ribbon is not flat, as ribbons usually are. Instead, the good doctor developed a corrugated ribbon much like those old corduroy pants that have been hanging in your closet since the 1970s.
This new ribbon design increases air-flow by at least four times of that of a flat ribbon providing 2.5 more output of the acoustics. By leaving the newly designed ribbon exposed to the air inside the speaker box (rather than encased), as is usually the case, cooling is no longer a problem, which means no loss of performance as was the case when the old style ribbons heated up. They even solved the dispersion pattern problem by making the ribbon frontal acoustic aperture smaller, a feat accomplished thanks to the folded geometry design.

Adam: Solving Problems with New Technology
Could they have stopped here with the development of a new driver? Sure could – but Adam, as always, strives for the ultimate in music enjoyment. Fortunately for us, as with the Focusrite Scarlett before it, they kept the creative screws turning and solved a few more issues that have plagued speaker technology since forever. The result is Adam’s very own analogue circuit that helps to maintain linearity (class A/B) – the new circuit provides a whopping 300 kHz. In essence, they solved the ribbon tweeter diminished frequency response by exploring new possibilities in Pulse Width Modulation. If all of this is Greek (or even Geek) to you, it breaks down to Adam doubling the power output of the amplifiers. The new class A/B driver of the Adam X-ART Tweeter rates at 50 watts. At the same time, a 100W PWM amp feeds the mid/bass cone driver giving the Adam7x a crossover frequency of 2.5 kHz. A solid wall of sound is an incredible thing to experience and this is as close as you can get to that.
