Two of the stars of last year, Bastille and Disclosure, lead the nominations for the BRIT Awards 2014 with four nominations each. The two bands are up against each other in exactly the same categories.
The BRITs Are Coming host Nick Grimshaw revealed they’re vying for success in British Breakthough Act, British Group, British Single and MasterCard British Album of the Year. This caps a fantastic 12-months for the two acts who will be joined by the cream of the UK and world music industry at London’s O2 on February 19.
Past winner of the Outstanding Contribution Award, David Bowie, has also been nominated for two Awards. Thirty years after he picked up his first BRIT he’s been nominated for Best British Male and Mastercard British Album of the Year.
Ellie Goulding and Rudimental have three nominations, while One Direction, Laura Mvula, Tom Odell, John Newman and Arctic Monkeys – who will open the Awards as one of planet’s most spectacular live performers – are all up for two.
There will also be a new Award voted for via social media with more details to be announced in the coming weeks.
