Karl Largerfeld never fails to make use of the huge space that fashion location, Grand Palais has to offer. This season saw the area transform into an art gallery setting. Art installations were also created by the brand, including a huge Chanel No5 robot. Artists that influenced the collection and Palais theme, were Kandinsky, Pollock, Oldenberg and Duchamp. It felt like Sunday at the Tate Modern!
The modern exhibits were worth looking at and caught the attention of those privileged enough to be invited to the highlight of Paris Fashion Week. People studied the artworks after the event. Karl still kept the Chanel tweed suits and court shoes in check. However he seeks more recognition from the younger generations who sit on the front row instagramming the entire performance. He knows that it’s easy marketing, his close relationships with current singers such as Rita Ora show his eagerness for youthful appreciation.
The Lego clutch and hula hoop bag were the most talked about accessories of last season, this time we’re looking at the backpack, modelled by Cara D. She has been wearing them since last year, so she was a perfect canvas to place it on.
One lucky male model stole the attention away from the females as he carried a canvas down the runway. We weren’t complaining, he was a real showstopper.
Our favourite accessory was the pearl necklaces, shaped like headphones. The crowd were satisfied, Largerfeld manages to appeal to both the aristocratic Parisian in a classic Chanel suit and the urban kids such as Katy Perry and Rita Ora. Watch the show below and scroll through the gallery…..
