As London Fashion Week comes to an end, we focus on our perfect accessory for the season. Yes you know it, we’re talking about the music. Have a look at the best tracks we heard blasting through the speakers at Somerset House, Hyde Park, Freemasons Hall and Regents University….
Burberry
Music here is always superb, Bailey acts as a taste maker for both fashion and music. Like AW13, Bailey chose British singer, George Ezra. Last time we were introduced to ‘Did You Hear The Rain’ this season we fell in love with Ezra’s ‘Benjamin Twine’ and ‘Budapest.’ Bailey kept the British music flag flying and got another pure sounding voice to echo through the hall in Hyde Park. Jake Bugg’s ‘Man On The Moon’ was in keeping with the male sound that day.
Mulberry
Mulberry again kept the soundtrack British and contrasted their picket fence catwalk with a rock n roll soundtrack. Winston Churchill’s voice echoed on a loud fuzzy speaker before Madness – Our House psyched up the venue.
Henry Holland
The soundtrack at HH was pretty gangsta, even though Henry Holland tried to convince his adoring fan base to wear something a little more demure.
A collection based around ”It was inspired by popping down the off license, you know when you just put your slippers on and have the jewellery from last night on still.” The ultimate soundtrack and power walk for this situation was provided from Amerie’s ‘One Thing,’
A retro and glamourous collection was soundtracked by The B-52’S Planet Claire.
Holly Fulton
An extremely feminine 1970’s collection , our favourite was the printed denim two piece suit. The soundtrack also came from the 70’s, Sparks – ‘My Other Voice.’ The band have also inspired other modern day bands such as MGMT, Arcade Fire and Sonic Youth. It’s good to know that their music is still in fashion.
Whistles
Whistles took us back to the 90’s with the music drop of En Vogue’s ‘ Never Gonna Get It.’ They later brought the clock forward with Sky Ferreria’s ‘Everything Is Embarassing.’
TOPSHOP UNIQUE
Another show full of major celeb FROWing. Topshop appealed to the younger demographic and played unknown singers. The brand like to act as a discoverer of new music, which they do well. The late night dancing collection was well matched to Tropical by KLP. California Sunrise by Dirty Gold was another one worthy of a Fashion Soundtrack!
SIMONE ROCHA
Dark music ft dark clothing at the SS14 Simone Rocha show.
