We’ve been to so many music festivals this summer. Sometimes we feel like, ‘we’ve seen it all before and are slowly becoming veterans of the fest season.’ So really we relish an adventure beyond just the music, fearlessly scouring the festival landscape for something to amaze and delight. Last night our eyes were stunned by Jodrell Bank……
Live from Jodrell Bank: The Transmissions, are a series of one day shows taking place on an outdoor stage in the shadow of the iconic Lovell Telescope at The University of Manchester’s Jodrell Bank Observatory. Previous Transmissions featuring The Flaming Lips & Elbow have been national award winning for innovation and creativity. Featuring a diverse array of internationally renowned musical artists alongside interactive science activities organised by Jodrell Bank with projections on the 76 metre high Lovell Telescope, it’s a show like no other.
One of the most majestic settings this festival season was this science arena, which was both eery and beautiful. We spent the evening stargazing and listening to music that perfectly suited this location. Sigur Ros, Daughter and Polica were well picked by Jodrell’s organisers. Icelandic band Sigur Ros has curated sounds from space especially for the transmission. It was an unforgettable evening that had us mesmerised from the opening chords. Enjoy our gallery…
