Yoko Ono made her return to Liverpool today after the new project “John Lennon Educational Tour Bus” was unveiled to the public at The Museum Of Liverpool. The bus offers young talent the chance to create and record their music. Yoko is a huge sponsor and patron of the project. A similar bus has been on the road in the US for 16 years. It was only right that UK opening happened to be in Liverpool. The project was created for John in the hope of creating a living legacy. It’s evident that the bus provides young people with free hands on opportunities to create original music and video. There is a crew of three young people who live on board that bus and travel non stop throughout the year allowing kids to use the professional facilities. The experience itself applies to both beginners and intermediates. The kids come on the bus for a day write lyrics, record and with the help of the crew they are able to create original songs, shoot a video and go home with a complete project. Guests were treated to a spectacular performance of John Lennon’s “Jealous Guy” by Liverpool boy band, Mic Lowry.
Yoko spoke of her love for Liverpool, “Whenever I come back to Liverpool I feel close to John and to his childhood. When I’m in the city I feel he is everywhere with me.
“I think he would be proud of what we’re doing. I’m hoping he is finally relaxing now and thinks I am doing a good job.”
True Religion Jeans are one of the sponsors for the John Lennon bus, it’s thanks to them that this project can continue and expand.
