It’s our most exciting time of season, the fashion weeks have arrived and we are creating our next fashion soundtrack playlist. Check out what music inspires the designer collections this year………….
EMPORIO ARMANI
Armani soundtracked the catwalk with fashion and music maven David Bowie. Bowie’s song “Cat People” blasted out the speakers. It was a daring choice and they could have taken the easy way out with his tune, “fashion.”
MISSONI
It was a difficult time for the Missoni family this fashion week. Vittorio Missoni who is the head of the fashion house is feared dead after his plane went missing a few days ago. This song is very sinister and perhaps reflects the hellish time that the family are experiencing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Missoni’s who still managed to pull off a stunning collection. X-TG’s track Um Dum Dum soundtracked the catwalk.
DOLCE & GABBANA
Dolce and Gabbana went with the classic score of “The swan song” of the Italian Neorealism cinema. Produced by Dino De Laurentiius. It was made for La Strada (English: The Road) (1954) is an Italian Academy Award winning film, directed by Federico Fellini. The movie is a drama about a naive young girl (played by Fellini’s wife, Giulietta Masina) who is sold to a brutish man (Anthony Quinn) in a coastal town in Italy. Dolce and Gabbana are very traditional and in keeping with Italian culture. Their classic floral prints are worthy of this musical soundtrack.
BURBERRY
We have already featured their tracks but just incase you missed it……….we love how Burberry clearly appreciate music. Most designers pick a catchy upbeat track whereas Christopher Bailey avoids fast tempo and opts for descending base lines through mellow acoustic musicians.
ETRO
ETRO used Antony and the Johnsons sweet romantic track “Kiss My Name.”
JIL SANDER
JIL SANDER used the weird and wonderful track “Farmer in the city” by Scott Walker.
VIVIENNE WESTWOOD
VIVIENNE WESTWOOD’S catwalk was soundtrack by the brilliant ELO. Their song “Last Train To London” represented the British brand. We love ELO’s track “Mr Blue Sky” which we have also added in below.
