We were surprised to see this new R.E.M track, it had been rumoured that the band had retired. This however is their 15th and final album….until the next pay check is needed! The talented James Franco shot the music video. Franco’s acting career is still in tow but the American screen star prefers to test his talents behind the lens. It’s not the first time James has directed, his advertising campaign with “Seven For All Mankind” (click here to see it ) showed an impressive retro Instagram styled screenplay. The songs frantic vocals are well suited to the rushing shots of Los Angeles. The blurry out of focus filming allows the monologue to reflect and elude a trail of thought. Lindsay Lohan the films femme fatale, poses for top photographer Terry Richardson in the clip. The irony of the Chateau Marmont hotel and Lohan in one place is epic. It was only a few years ago that Lindsay was blacklisted from the West Hollywood bungalows for her careless rock and roll mess. Adding more to the video confusion is James Franco’s drag appearance. He is spotted near the end posing for Richardson. R.E.M’s lead singer Michael Stipe has chosen a new video director for each album track.
